mapping of initiatives
more on the Lake Forum Series       A forum-workshop entitled “Laguna De Bay Mapping of Environment-Related Initiatives – A Workshop to Plan for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies” was held on November 28, 2007 at the Conference Room of the Ortigas Building, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.  It brought together Planning and Development Officers (PDOs) from the lakeshore towns in Laguna de Bay to:
- determine environment-related activities and programs that are being undertaken in the lakeshore cities/municipalities;
- learn about the science of climate change and the basic tools and approaches that can be used to integrate climate change concepts into local planning processes, i.e. Land Use Plan;
- to identify gaps in activities, projects and policies related to environmental conservation in general, and if possible, climate change in particular, within the Lakeshore towns that need to be addressed;
- to create a network and database of individuals and institutions working for the wise use of Laguna de Bay’s environment for future networking and partnerships;
- to formulate recommendations for future steps that can be done by the local government units with regards to climate change adaptation and mitigation at the local level

      At the end of the workshop, after the above objectives are  accomplished, the next step will be the creation of a GIS-based map of initiatives within the lakeshore communities of  Laguna de Bay which will help CLEAR in making strategic decision about their activities in Laguna de Bay.
