he Philippine Environment and Natural Resources Directory is an output of the Environment and Natural Resources Database (ENR DBAS) , a subprogramme of the Integrated Environmental Management for Sustainable Development (IEMSD) which is a three-year programme between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of the Philippines through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).

The ENR Directory is a metadatabase of environment and natural resources and related information on attribute databases, spatial datasets (digital and analog format), projects, bibliographic materials and audio-visual production materials.

As a metadatabase, it would provide information of a particular data, not the data itself. Information such as title or name of the data or dataset, description, date created, date of last update, frequency of update, file format, location of the data, contact person, are provided. Its basic concept is to furnish data users initial information or profile about the data and its location, while access to data itself can be requested from its custodians.

Another output of the ENR DBAS subprogramme is the Executive Reporting System (ERS). The ERS includes Crisis or Issues Management Reporting System (CMRS) and the EIA/ECC Tracking System. It is supported by all the information systems and databases of the various offices connected to the network of the department.

The CMRS is a way of informing the DENR executives of an emerging issue, conflict or crisis within the concerns of the DENR to enable them to properly handle the situation.
