Ecological Camp
"Kilos Kabataan Para sa Lawa" |
|
To regularly conduct an Ecological Camp, dubbed as
Kilos Kabataan Para sa Lawa, is part of the plan
strategy of CLEAR in its campaign
to educate the community, particularly the youth, on the need
to conserve and protect Laguna de Bay. The ecological
camp aims to ensure the sustainable conservation and
protection of Laguna de Bay and to foster a deeper sense of
appreciation and commitment especially among the lakeshore
communities. |

The three-day eco-camp was participated by 15 youth from various high schools
in Tanay.
The
Eco-Camp was conducted in partnership with the
Tanay Environmental Foundation, Tanay Ladies Association, and the
local government of the Municipality of Tanay. It was a follow- through
activity of the Community Lake Monitoring Program that was launched
the previous year (05 June 2002, World Environment Day) in Tanay, Rizal
The vision formulated by the eco-campers for Laguna de Bay -
"To experience a vibrant Laguna de Bay with clean water, thriving
aquatic life, and green watershed, free from wastes and protected by
disciplined citizens, cooperating together to make this vision a
reality by 2013."

Twenty high school students from various schools in Los Baños, Laguna
had participated the three-day Ecological Camp.
This year's Eco-Camp was conducted in partnership with the Department
of Social Development Services of College of Human Ecology, University of
the Philippines - Los Baños and the Samahan
ng mga Mag-aaral ng Teknolohiyang Panlipunan, a student
organization in UP - Los Baños. |

This year's CLEAR Eco-Camp was participated by 38 high
school students from various schools in Muntinlupa City.
It was conducted in partnership with the City Government
of Muntinlupa, through its local Lake Management Office.
 
The vision formulated by the eco-campers for Laguna de Bay -
"By the year 2015, the Laguna de bay will become a
natural ecological tourist destination. It will become a
well-conserved and protected lake that will maintain the
natural beauty and essence of it. Marine life will
thrive beyond the whole lake which will become the main
source of natural resources and basic needs. This
resource - rich lake will be protected by the laws of the
government and responsible people. The lake will
enhance its beauty in such a way that people can achieve
their basic needs from the natural lake."

This year's eco-camping was held on 18 to 20 April 2006 for the
youth of Lumban, Laguna. Fifteen high school students from
three schools (Wawa National High School, Lumban Academy,
and Saint Vincent de Paul Montessori & Science High School)
of the municipality of Lumban participated in the camping.
CLEAR's partners in the event are the CBK
Power Company Limited and the Municipal Government of Lumban, It
also got support from the Environmental Studies Institute and
Center for Environmental Awareness and Education.

The vision formulated by the eco-campers for their environment -
"In the year 2016, Lumban is a well-developed, well-progressed and
well-known city with high quality products, environment-friendly ecotourism
development and well-preserved culture. The city offers opportunities
through socio-economic channels which uplift the quality of life of its
people through cooperation of its disciplined people and its local
government. Lumban is filled with proud Lumbeños thriving in their
environment that is home to its natural resources and rich biodiversity."

Twenty-nine students from various high schools in San
Pablo City participated in the eco-camping organized by
CLEAR on 25 - 27 October 2006. The eco-camp aimed
to ensure the sustainable conservation of Laguna de Bay,
its watershed and its tributaries, particularly the
Seven Lakes in San Pablo City. It was conducted in
partnership with the Friends of the Seven Lakes
Foundation and the local government of San Pablo City.
The vision formulated by the eco-campers for their
environment -
"It is the year 2016. San Pablo
is a well-planned and clean city, promoting the Seven
Lakes as a well-known tourist spot with a govenmrnt that
is responsive in conserving and protecting our
environment. The citizens are disciplined and
responsible in treating natural resources as God's given
gift. San Pablo is a successful model city not
only in Laguna, but in the whole country."

The 3-day eco-camp in Green House, Pangil, Laguna was
conducted in partnership with the Municipal Government
of Pangil. Twenty-four high school students from
eight barangays of Pangil participated in the eco-camping on 27
- 29 February 2008. The eco-camp aimed to develop
young stewards for the environment, particularly that of
the Laguna de Bay region.
The vision formulated by the eco-campers for their
environment -
"Sa 2018, ang bayan ng PANGIL ay isang tanyag at maunlad
na bayan sa lalawigan ng Laguna dahil sa magandang
pamamalakad ng mga namumuno nito. Ang mga kasapi ng
pamahalaan ay may pagkakaisa at malawakang kooperasyon.
Ang mga responsableng Pangilenos na nangangalaga sa
likas na yaman ay nagpatanyag sa ekoturismo ng Pangil at
nakatulong sa kabuhayan ng bawat taong bayan. Nagkaroon
din sila ng “appropriate technologies” na nagamit sa
edukasyon, pangangalaga sa kalikasan at nakatulong sa
pagpapaunlad ng kabuhayan. Ang kultura ng Pangil ay
nananatiling buhay sa bawat mamamayan. Ang lahat ng ito
ay dahil sa kanilang pananalig at takot sa Diyos."
