TITLE:
Lugawan sa Barangay Para sa Lawa (Daloy)
PROPONENT: Angono Eco-Campers
SITE: Angono, Rizal
DURATION: Six (6) months
BUDGET: PhP 50,000.00
FOCAL PERSON: Mr. Janssen Reyes,

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project will employ an intensive information,
education and public awareness campaign among the
households in Barangays Poblacion Ibaba and San Vicente.
The target site or Barangays are the most populated and
built-up in the municipality. The activities that will
run initially for six months include a river clean-up
which is the kick-off activity followed by a Community
Forum, and a house-to-house campaign. These activities
are closely tied-up with the solid waste management
program of the local government noting that the town’s Materials Recycling Facility is
scheduled for operation by the end of May 2009.
The information campaign for
the other four Barangays upstream will be handled by the
local government. Monitoring will be done on a bi-monthly basis by
the Eco-Campers. In all the community gatherings,
lugaw
– which is a traditional merienda item in the area will
be served to symbolize their cooperation.
To sustain the momentum and encourage further
participation from the community, as well as to bring
the cause of the project to the heart of the Angono
people, an art contest and exhibit of materials coming
from waste will be held in November 2009 to coincide
with the Higantes Festival. This activity will cap the
first phase of the project after which the project
partners will again come together and evaluate the
process, outputs and results of the project. |
