attendance to the 6^th Living Lakes Conference

At the 6th Living Lakes Conference held on July 30 to August 2, 2001 at Lake Baikal, Russia, the CLEAR Project was successfully presented by the Philippine delegation. Mr. Chito Macapagal of Unilever Philippines described the background of the tripartite partnership, Ms. Lennie Borja of the Laguna Lake Development Authority reported the biological diversity of Laguna de Bay, and Ms. Amy Lecciones of the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands presented the CLEAR Project, its goals and work plan.

The CLEAR Partnership and the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands are unanimously accepted as Living Lakes partner organizations. Laguna de Bay becomes the 18th lake recognized by the Living Lakes Network.

The Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands, Inc. (SCPW), and the Unilever Philippines, Inc. forged an agreement to undertake CLEAR (Conservation of Laguna de Bay's Environment and Resources). The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement was held on 07 June 2001 at the Cafe Espa�ol, Manila with the DENR Secretary Heherson Alvarez as the Guest of Honor.
