Kilos Kabataan Para sa Lawa -
an ecological camp |

This year's ecocamping was held on 26 - 28 October 2005 at Anfort
Resort in Cupang, Muntinglupa City, the Kilos Kabataan Para sa Lawa was conducted in
cooperation with the Local Government of Muntinglupa City through
its local lake management officer.
Thirty-eight (38) high school students from various high schools of
Muntinlupa City, one of the lakeshore municipalities of Laguna de Bay,
participated in the Eco-Camp. The ecocamp was designed to raise the awareness of
youth on environmental protection and sustainable development,
particularly as it applies to Laguna de Bay.

The CLEAR Youth Network Forum

A
forum was held on 01 October 2005 at the Gazebo of the Ninoy Aquino
Parks and Wildlife Center to strengthen the commitment of the youth
and to plan the next steps for the CLEAR Youth Network. This was
a follow through to the youth forum held during the 10th Living Lakes
Conference on May 2005 which had consolidated the ideas and
initiatives of the participating youth for the conservation of the
environment of Laguna de Bay.
The forum was attended by five youth groups: Kilos Kabataan Para sa Lawa
from Tanay, Rizal; Kilos Kabataan Para sa Lawa / Youth Circle from
Los Ba�os, Laguna; Young Environmental Stewards (YES) of SACRED; Lumban Youth Group from Lumban, Laguna; and the
Association of
Architecture Students of the Philippines (ASAPHIL), UP-Diliman
Chapter. The main agenda of the forum/workshop was to craft the
guidelines of the network, and they were able to discussed the
projects and activities, and the participation and involvement of the
groups to the network.

the 10th Living Lakes Conference - |

The CLEAR partners with the Global Nature Fund hosted the 10th Living Lakes Conference
in May 2005 at Tagaytay City. The Conference, which theme was
"The Lake and its People: Sustainable Development in Densely
Populated Lake Regions", was centered around the interaction
between the lake and its people. The discussions were focused on
how communities in densely populated lake regions could achieve a
balance between complex resource uses and sustainable development.
Numerous best practice examples and case studies about sound lake
stewardship were presented in the conference. Also
introduced and discussed were transferable solutions and
strategies in order to assist
communities to play their role as responsible stewards of lake
ecosystems.
The conference was attended by representatives from the Living Lakes
Network members and local wetland managers and management
advocates. The participants had the opportunity to
learn more on how lake stewardship issues are being addressed by the various Laguna de Bay
stakeholders during the field trips to its lakeshore municipalities.
