holding of the 6th CLEAR Youth Network Congress
CLEAR Youth Network            The year of 2011 was declared the International Year of Forests by the United Nations to bolster efforts to promote sustainable management, conservation and development of forests worldwide.  In line with this, World Wetlands Day was celebrated this year with the theme Forests for Water and Wetlands.  The  6th CLEAR Youth Network Congress has chosen the same theme which focused on the connection between forests and wetlands and the role of forests to our wetlands. 

           The Congress, which was attended by 80 youth from lakeshore communities of Laguna de Bay,  was held on 13-14 of August 2011 at the Vincentian Hills Seminary and Retreat House in Angono, Rizal.  The participants had an exposure trip to the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs.

meeting of the CYN coordinators
           The CLEAR Coordinators met on 14 August 2011during the 6th CLEAR Youth Network Congress.  The main topic discussed was the sustainability of the participation of eco-camp groups to the network and ways to help in coordination and implementation of projects.  Also discussed was the updates and progress of the coordinators' respective group activities such as the sachet recovery projects in schools.

 
attendance to the Living Lakes and Shorebird Conservation Events in Denmark, Western Australia
           A Living Lakes Network Forum was held in Denmark, Western Australia on the 17th of February 2011.  The forum aimed to raise awareness on Living Lakes Network, and at the same time promote Living Lakes - Australia.   Ms. Amy M. Lecciones, Vice-President of the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands, attended the event representing the CLEAR Partnership.   Invited as one of the resource persons, she presented the "Wetland Conservation in the Philippines". 

          Right after the forum, a Seminar-Workshop on Migratory Shorebirds Conservation in Western Australia was conducted on 18-20 February 2011.  The seminar aimed to bring together people concerned about the crisis facing shorebirds in the East Asian- Australasian Flyway.  And also, to  increase networking of concerned individuals in the South West and South Coast, exchanging information about wetland and estuary management relevant to shorebird conservation.  A range of speakers, one of whom is Ms. Lecciones, addressed the challenges that migratory shorebirds faced each year in its visit to Australia.  Shorebird conservation, identification and monitoring were the activities focused in the workshop.

          The event was organized by the Green Skills Inc. of Denmark, Western Australia.
