Over the years, the Laguna de Bay has been subjected to both natural
and anthropogenic pressures. As a result, the ecological
integrity of the lake has suffered and has affected its ability to
bounce back to its original condition.
This reality has prompted the government and other sectors of society
to give attention to how the lake is being managed. Aside from
efforts coming from the authorities, many groups have recognized their
stake on the lake and thus have initiated various efforts contributing
to its conservation and management. However, these efforts have
been fragmented and uncoordinated thus, missing out on a great
opportunity for synergism.
Cognizant to this, the CLEAR partnership launched a series of fora
that brings together the different stakeholders to discuss common
concerns and to have the opportunity to learn what each one is doing
as far as lake conservation and management is concerned. It is
envisioned that the activity will generate local best practices that
can be shared and replicated.
