Building Internal
Capability
The NZ-PNOC Social Forestry Project has established a
more or less a standard approach in
building the capability of their partner communities. Most of the methods and processes
employed in the Tongonan Farmers Association were also used in TULUNGAN with appropriate
innovations that are suitable to the community. In fact, TULUNGANs current Extension
Officer also worked with the TOFA. In a way, implementing several sites simultaneously was
a clear advantage since problems and solutions, including lessons learned could be easily
shared.
Technology
a) For the abaca plantation, TULUNGAN used tissue cultured seedlings
since only such supplier could deliver enough for 55.5 hectares.
