Gathering of Stakeholders
|
A big gathering of representatives from
stakeholders of Laguna de Bay is going to be held every year
as one of the CLEAR strategy for its information campaign.
Its objectives are the following:
-
to
inform stakeholders of the new initiatives in the
conservation of Laguna de Bay, specifically CLEAR
and its partners, and the Living Lakes
Network.
-
to
prepare the stakeholders for a more in-depth
involvement in the conservation of Laguna de Bay.

To launch the information campaign among the Laguna de Bay
stakeholders, a big gathering was held on the 4th of July 2002 at
the National Arts Center in Mount Makiling. The
campaign aims to solicit the active support and cooperation of all
stakeholders in the conservation of Laguna de Bay.
Attended by stakeholders from various groups, local government units and organizations, the
gathering was graced by the presence of Rep. Joaquin Chipeco of the 2nd District of Laguna
who took the lead in the ceremonial reading of pledges of the attendees.

For the past two years, the CLEAR partners has brought
together Laguna de Bay's stakeholders to encourage everyone to
participate in lake conservation efforts. This year, the
conference heightened the call for a concerted effort by launching a

The CLEAR partnership has always endeavored to provide a venue for
stakeholders to exchange information and discuss current issues relevant to
the conservation of Laguna de Bay. For three years (2002 to 2004), it
consistently held the Stakeholders' Conference where the State of Laguna de
Bay is presented to the the stakeholders of the lake.
In 2005, the CLEAR partnership held the Living Lakes Conference and it
provided opportunity for the Laguna de Bay to showcase local conservation
efforts and gain insights from among the many experiences of the Living
Lakes Network members and other concerned individuals all over the world.

To extend the reach of IEC to the local
communities, the CLEAR partners launched the Wetlands Caravan, a series of
local fora focused on local issues. The forum employs a more
participative and community driven approach, giving emphasis on the specific
needs and uses of wetland to a particular community, and at the same time
elicit response from the community in terms of how they see it as
a resource that can be used in a sustainable manner. This approach is
under the concept of the Communications, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA)
Program of the SCPW.
